A New Adventure on the Horizon

A couple of months ago, I made the decision to stop updating The Archaeology of Tomb Raider due to fandom fatigue, a hectic work schedule, and a general lack of enthusiasm for blogging. I’m a firm believer in taking breaks from fandom when it gets too overwhelming and I found this latest break not only reignited my passion for writing about Tomb Raider, it also allowed me to go into Shadow of the Tomb Raider relatively fresh. As you’ve probably noticed by now, the site’s had a ... [Continue Reading]

The Archaeology of Tomb Raider – The End of an Adventure?

If you’ve been a long-time reader, you’ll probably know that I’ve taken several breaks from running The Archaeology of Tomb Raider in recent years, mostly due to personal and/or health reasons. These breaks gave me time to reassess my priorities and would often reignite my love for Tomb Raider and its fan community. It was always a pleasure to reconnect and catch up with long-time Twitter friends and dive back into discussing the games, Lara Croft, and archaeology. But, ... [Continue Reading]

8 Things I Missed While on Hiatus

As you probably know by now, The Archaeology of Tomb Raider has just returned from a 3-month hiatus. Granted, I didn’t physically go anywhere but I gave myself a much-needed break from monitoring and relaying Tomb Raider franchise news to my readers and social media followers. Time and tide wait for no Croft and, as a result, I’m now feeling a little out of the proverbial loop… So what did I miss during the site’s downtime? Oscar-Winning Actress Lands Role as the New ... 5 Reasons Why You Should Make a Donation to Extra Life

For the last couple of years, I’ve joined thousands of other gamers in their quest to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by taking part in Extra Life, an annual charity gaming event that was launched back in 2008. Since its inception, gamers have raised a massive $20 million (and counting) for sick children and their families across North America and abroad. How amazing is that? It’s easy to be cynical about charity fundraisers or suffer from “charity ... [Continue Reading]

Tombs Aplenty in the Gamescom Rise of the Tomb Raider Demo

This time last year, Tomb Raider fans were up in arms when Microsoft and Crystal Dynamics announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider would be a timed exclusive. It was a move that threatened to tear the Tomb Raider fan community to shreds as one of their beloved game series fell victim to the scourge of “console exclusivity”. Petitions were launched, angry tweets were tweeted, and updates on the official Tomb Raider Facebook page turned into “Console Wars” battlefields ... [Continue Reading]

The Archaeology of Tomb Raider 2nd Anniversary Q&A

It’s hard to believe that it’s been two years since I launched The Archaeology of Tomb Raider. It seemed like only yesterday that I posted the blog’s first article, a news item on the real-life search for Queen Himiko’s tomb, but here we are, some 260+ blog posts later. 🙂 I want to thank everyone who’s been following this blog and its related social media accounts for helping make The Archaeology of Tomb Raider the mini-success story it is. This fansite would be ... [Continue Reading]
