Another E3 has come and gone and while we’re still waiting for news of a PS4 release for Rise of the Tomb Raider, we got a little sneak peek of the upcoming commemorative book, 20 Years of Tomb Raider: Digging Up the Past, Defining the Future, and learnt that a new series of statues has been commissioned to celebrate the franchise’s 20th anniversary.
The Crystal Dynamics crew also took part in a number of live events throughout the week, most notably the Square Enix Presents show, #TombRaider20: Top Tombs, in which Tomb Raider fans Raymond Croft and Jade Jolie joined Senior Community Manager Meagan Marie on set to talk about the levels that were voted fan-favourites by the community.
For those of you who want a quick summary of the levels that were discussed on the show, they were:
- Tomb Raider (1996) – The Lost Valley (Peru)
- Tomb Raider II – Barkhang Monastery (Tibet)
- Tomb Raider III – Temple Ruins (India)
- Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation – Tomb of Semerkhet (Egypt)
- Tomb Raider Chronicles – Labyrinth, Black Isle (Ireland)
- Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness – The Hall of Seasons, Paris (France)
- Tomb Raider: Legend – King Arthur’s Tomb, Cornwall (England)
- Tomb Raider: Anniversary – St. Francis Folly (Greece)
- Tomb Raider: Underworld – Southern Mexico (Mexico)
- Tomb Raider (2013) – Chasm Monastery (Yamatai)
- Rise of the Tomb Raider – The Flooded Archives in the Geothermal Valley (Russia)
While I agree with some of the choices, my own list of favourite tombs (or levels) would be quite different. In fact, I might even work on a list of my own in the not-too-distant future.

So, do you agree with the list? What are your favourite Tomb Raider tombs and levels? Feel free to share your thoughts below!

Thank you so much for sharing this. It’s really fun to see these tombs again, although I personally highly disagree with the list. They even picked a couple of tombs that are actually my least favourite 😉 It’s still nice to revive the memory. I can’t wait to see your list and I’m thinking about creating my own. Would make a good excuse to play some of the old games again…
Go for it. Always interested to hear what people’s favourite tombs/levels are. 🙂
